SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. (WVDN) – Individuals interested in learning how to successfully write and submit grant applications are invited to attend an upcoming community education class, Grant Writing: Writing Strategies and Methods for Writing and Submitting Grants, offered by New River Community and Technical College at the Nicholas County Campus in Summersville.
The workshop will be held Sept. 22 from 5–8 p.m. at the Nicholas County Campus, located at 6101 Webster Road, Summersville. The cost to attend is $30.
The course will provide participants with practical instruction in effective grant writing, including key strategies and methods for completing grant applications. Participants will gain tools and knowledge to build confidence in their grant writing and improve their ability to develop competitive funding proposals.
Each participant will receive a comprehensive notebook containing:
- Examples of written grants
- Cover letters and letters of intent
- Budget forms
- Final reports
- Guidance on submitting grant applications
- Subject-specific grant writing vocabulary and definitions
The class will be taught by Barbara Crawford, a retired English teacher with extensive grant writing experience. Crawford holds a Bachelor of Education degree from Glenville State College and a master’s degree from West Virginia University. Throughout her career, she successfully secured numerous grants from local, state and national organizations and foundations.
The course is ideal for educators, nonprofit professionals, community leaders and anyone interested in developing or strengthening their grant writing skills.
