Lewisburg, W.Va. (WVDN) – Fun, creativity, and confidence took the stage at Carnegie Hall this past July as the local nonprofit hosted its 33rd Annual Kids’ College program from July 6-17. The 2026 summer program brought together 223 day-camp students, 28 Teaching Artists, and 33 volunteers from a total of eight states and 12 WV counties to celebrate two weeks of arts based fun and creativity.
With over 30 unique classes offered, ranging from Astronomy and Archaeology to needle felting, camera making, printmaking and sound effects, students were able to pick from a wide variety of hands-on arts and science-based workshops to experience, and were able to select up to five different classes to try each week.
Speaking about the recent program, Carnegie Hall’s Education Director, Harmony Flora, said that “This year’s Kids’ College was really special – the students were amazing, and we all had so much fun! The level of creativity in the campers’ artwork and in their Friday Showcase performances was very inspiring, and a reminder, I think, of why it is so important to take part in the arts. Making art – and learning through art- brings joy, and being joyful makes us all better human beings.”
Planning is already underway for next year’s Kids’ College to be held July 12-16 and 19-23, 2027, with registration opening in early May.
