NOTICE OF PROPOSED CONVEYANCE OF UNITED METHODIST CHURCH PROPERTY
(MAY CHAPEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH)
Notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will, on or after September 2, 2026, QUITCLAIM, GRANT and CONVEY to The May-Traines Cemetery Association, all of their right, title and interest in and to the following piece or parcel of land in Anthony Creek District of Greenbrier County, West Virginia and bounded and described as follows:
BEGINNING at two pines by the road, known as the Rimel and White Sulphur Public road; N 57 W 19 ¾ poles to a pin oak; S 41_ 21 ½ poles to two small white oaks near the Possum Branceh S 27 _ 19 ½ poles to a stone by the said run and by said road on the line of S. O. Rider, thence leaving the line of said Rider and with the road to the beginning. Together with a free, full and complete right of way or road as now located from the above parcel to the public road and paid for in the foregoing consideration.
AND BEING the same property conveyed to Trustees for the Methodist Protestant Church from John V. May & Lily M. May, his wife, by Deed dated February 10, 1910 and recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County Commission of Greenbrier County, West Virginia in Deed Book 80, at page 402, reference to which is hereby made.
Said May Chapel United Methodist Church was declared closed effective December 15, 2025 by resolution adopted by a majority of the District Superintendents of the West Virginia Annual conference by the United Methodist Church.
