The following statement was released by Sheriff Bruce Sloan of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department:
On Friday, September 10, 2021, at approximately 8:15 am, Sergeant S. W. Hudnall, of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s office, responded to a suspicious person complaint.
Sergeant Hudnall located the female individual in a residence in Lewisburg and she had two children, ages 13 and 7 with her. The vehicle she was operating did not have any registration affixed to it.
Through his investigation Sergeant Hudnall was able to identify the female as Amy Harshbarger, age 40 of Tempe, Arizona, and learn that she was a fugitive from the state of Arizona. Ms. Harshbarger was wanted for custodial interference with a domestic enhancement. She was reported to be the birth mother of the two children with her, however she was not the custodial parent of either child.
Ms. Harshbarger was placed under arrest as a fugitive from justice, arraigned before a Greenbrier County Magistrate and incarcerated in the Southern Regional Jail, pending an extradition hearing.
The two children were placed in the custody of Child Protective Services, pending release to the custodial father of each child.
