PIPESTEM — Greenbrier East placed two golfers atop the individual leaderboard and came away with the team victory in a recent high school golf match at Pipestem Resort State Park.
The Spartans had a team score of 117, six strokes better than runner-up Beckley, which finished at 123. PikeView was third with a 151, while Moncalm also competed in the match.
Greenbrier East’s Seth Napier and Sam Roshau shared low-medalist honors after each carded a 37. Beckley’s Tyler Stover also shot a 37 to make it a three-way tie for the best individual round of the match. The Spartans’ Evan Clinebell added a 43, giving East the three scores it needed to reach its winning total of 117.
Greenbrier East also received rounds of 46 from Sam Fedukovich and 53 from Ross Gray.
Beckley was led by Stover’s 37, followed by Drew Gallaher, Austin Long and Luke Mainella, who each shot 43. Dalton Higginbotham added a 47 and Ethan Baker finished with a 54.
PikeView was led by Luke Collis with a 44, followed by Trenton McIntyre at 53 and Zach Fortner at 54. Moncalm’s Carson Austin shot a 52 and Allen Austin finished with a 59.
With Napier and Roshau leading the way, the Spartans’ balanced performance was enough to secure the six-stroke victory on the Pipestem course.
