SMOOT- The countdown to a brand-new school year is on, and excitement is building at Smoot Elementary School!

Families are invited to kick off the year during the school’s Open House on Thursday, August 27, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., where students and parents will be welcomed with smiles, school spirit, and a unique scavenger hunt designed for the entire Smoot Smokie family.

Leading the way into the new school year is Principal Monica Crookshanks, who is looking forward to welcoming students back with an afternoon focused on fun, connection, and community.

“Every child deserves to feel known, valued, and inspired. As your principal, my promise is to lead with heart, support our teachers, celebrate our families, and create a school where every child has the opportunity to shine,” Crookshanks said.

During the Open House, families will participate in a school-wide scavenger hunt that will guide them through classrooms and important locations throughout the building while introducing them to the faculty and staff who make Smoot Elementary a special place to learn and grow.

The interactive event promises plenty of smiles, opportunities to learn about the upcoming school year, and a memorable way to begin another year of learning together.

Whether you’re a returning Smokie or joining the Smoot Elementary family for the first time, everyone is encouraged to come out, enjoy the fun, and celebrate the start of an exciting new school year. Mark your calendars: Smoot Elementary Open House Thursday, August 27 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. The halls are ready, the teachers are excited, and the Smokie spirit is stronger than ever.

Smoot Elementary can’t wait to welcome every family back for what promises to be an outstanding school year!
