MORGANTOWN (WVDN)- If there was one position that needed a complete overhaul on the West Virginia football team, it was the offensive line.
In 2025, WVU put what was arguably the worst offensive line on the field in their school’s history. It was definitely in the top five worst, no questions asked.
But this coming season, the Mountaineers seem to have fixed the issue, and the offensive line could potentially be looked at as a strength.
Here is the projected starting offensive line according to many:
LT- Carsen Casady, LG- Nick Krahe, C- Wes King, RG- Amare’ Grayson, and RT- Malik Agbo. Krahe and Agbo were at WVU last year. Casady transferred in from UCONN, King from Wyoming, and Grayson from Jacksonville State. New offensive line coach–and former longtime WVU coach–Rick Trickett, was brought in from Jax State to coach these guys up and make sure they indeed are a position of strength.
Also intriguing about the O-line is the depth that was non-existent a season ago.
True freshman Kevin Brown may be the best one on the roster, but he has not played a college game yet. The highly rated 4-star was a longtime commitment to Penn State before switching to WVU live on the Pat McAfee show while burning a couch in his driveway. His dad, Tim Brown, was an all-conference lineman for Rich Rodriguez in the early 2000s.
Landon Livingston, Cameron Griffin, and Devin Vass will all play a lot. Livingston has played for WVU his whole career and was a starter last season, while Griffin played with Grayson and for Trickett at Jax State and Vass was a productive player for Kansas State. Basically, the depth is there this year for the Mountaineers to field a formidable and respectable offensive line.
At the tight end spot, all signs point to Ryan Ward starting. Ward, who started his career at UNC, transferred in last season and had six catches for 41 yards and a score. This season, he is going to be the main option and his production will skyrocket.
Behind Ward are two athletic options in Josh Sapp and Cam Ball. Sapp played 465 career snaps in two seasons at Clemson so obviously he has big game experience. Ball came over from the SEC’s Mississippi State program and has experience on the field as well.
Looking at the tight end position on paper, it would seem that the Mountaineers are set for the upcoming year. All three players are from Power 4 schools and are ready to make an immediate impact in the old gold and blue.
