CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN) – Governor Patrick Morrisey announced the appointment of Allie Smith to the West Virginia State Election Commission.
“West Virginians deserve elections that are conducted with integrity, transparency, and accountability,” said Governor Morrisey. “Allie Smith has demonstrated a strong commitment to public service and brings valuable legal, legislative, and regulatory experience that will serve the State Election Commission and the people of West Virginia well.”
Smith serves as Assistant Commissioner of Legal and Legislative for the West Virginia Department of Agriculture, where she serves as the Department’s legislative liaison and works closely with lawmakers, agency leadership, and stakeholders to advance agricultural policy initiatives. She also supports the Department through contract review, regulatory compliance, policy research, and implementation of state and federal laws.
Known for her strong work ethic and attention to detail, Smith collaborates with agency staff and external partners to help ensure programs are administered effectively and in accordance with applicable statutes and regulations.
Originally from Tarpon Springs, Florida, Smith is active in promoting West Virginia’s fairs and festivals and their role in supporting agriculture, preserving tradition, and encouraging youth involvement.
