GLENVILLE- Gavin Satterwhite, Mason Keister, and Dalton Brown from Greenbrier County attended the 2026 West Virginia Sheriff’s Association Youth Leadership Academy, held July 12 through July 17 at Glenville State College.
The West Virginia Sheriff’s Youth Leadership Academy is an annual, weeklong summer program designed for teenage boys and girls. The academy combines recreation and educational development to introduce students to a range of law-enforcement-related topics while helping them strengthen leadership skills.
During the week, participants met and learned from deputies from across the state. The curriculum included information on law enforcement and the roles of various agencies, as well as presentations on drug and alcohol awareness, and abuse prevention. Students also received an introduction to the process of government and how it relates to public safety and community leadership.
On July 17, campers were recognized during an award ceremony and received diplomas for completing the program.
