HARRISONBURG, Va. (WVDN)  — The Covington Lumberjacks closed out the 2026 Valley Baseball League season Saturday night with a 6-1 loss to the Harrisonburg Turks.

Covington managed just three hits in the contest and stranded multiple scoring opportunities as Harrisonburg pulled away with four runs over the sixth and seventh innings. The Turks struck first in the second inning when Ben Garber delivered an RBI single for a 1-0 lead.

The Lumberjacks answered in the top of the third without recording a hit. Jacob Levesque reached base and later scored on a balk after Darrius Brown advanced to third, tying the game at 1-1.

That would be the only run of the night for Covington. Harrisonburg regained the lead in the fifth when Elijah Guilliams scored on a wild pitch, making it 2-1. The Turks added two more runs in the sixth. Trey Miranda lined an RBI triple down the right field line before scoring on a sacrifice fly by Andy Perez to extend the advantage to 4-1.

Harrisonburg put the game away in the seventh, scoring twice more. Miranda drew a bases-loaded walk before Bennett Gary reached on a fielder’s choice that plated another run following a throwing error.

Darrius Brown led the Lumberjacks offensively, finishing 2-for-4 to account for two of the club’s three hits. Jonathan Vazquez added the other hit, while Dariel Castillo reached base four times with two walks. Jacob Levesque scored Covington’s lone run and drew two walks.

Peter Crespo stole a base but grounded into a double play. Brown, Crespo and Levesque each recorded a stolen base, while Castillo and Brown were caught stealing. Quindon Wright (2-4) took the loss after allowing two earned runs on five hits over five innings. He walked five and struck out two on 103 pitches.

Aniel Berbes surrendered four earned runs on two hits in 1 1/3 innings of relief. Dylan Andino Camacho worked the final 1 2/3 innings, allowing no hits while walking two and striking out three. The Lumberjacks finished the game with one run on three hits and two errors, while Harrisonburg totaled six runs on seven hits and one error.
