LEWISBURG, W.Va. (WVDN) — Founded in 1977, Plants, Etc. and Bookstore is one of Lewisburg’s oldest stores. Plants, Etc. provides community members and visitors an opportunity to purchase West Virginia and regionally made art and unique collectibles, featuring pottery, stained glass, beeswax candles, journals, wooden utensils, toys, towels, leatherwork and more. The business is 100% women-owned and operated. One thing that is not for sale, however, is the sense of joy, welcome and whimsy that greets visitors at the door.
The Bookstore continues the legacy of founder Robert Head, offering curious shoppers a special space for finding scarce, scholarly and out-of-print books.
Plants, Etc. and Bookstore are celebrating their 49th anniversary in August 2026 with a series of events. Kicking off the month’s events are two opportunities to enjoy the beauty, artistry, joy, and community of Plants, Etc. and Bookstore.
On Saturday, Aug. 1, at 6 p.m., Plants, Etc. and Dr. Rob Meyer-Kukan of 7 Notes Natural Health will host a free sound bath in the hidden garden, open to the community.
On Friday, Aug. 8, from 4 to 7 p.m., as part of First Fridays After 5 in downtown Lewisburg, the store will offer light refreshments, wine and herbal tea. A celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Greater Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce will also take place.
Additional events are planned throughout the month. For updates on upcoming 49th anniversary events, follow Plants, Etc. and Bookstore on Facebook at @oldeststoreinlewisburg or on TikTok at @plantsetcwv, or call the store at 304-645-6910.
