LEWISBURG, W.Va. (WVDN) — The Board of Directors of Hollowell Dawkins Foundation, Inc. awarded grants totaling $803,230 to 59 local organizations in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026. Grants awarded by the foundation to date total $14,795,627.90.
Recipients of this year’s grants are: Alderson Main Street, Bethlehem Farm, Carnegie Hall, CASA of the Greenbrier Valley, Child and Youth Advocacy Center, Children’s Home Society, Communities in Schools of Greenbrier County, Davis-Stuart, Family Refuge Center, Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department, Lewisburg Volunteer Fire Company, Frankford Volunteer Fire Department, Quinwood Volunteer Fire Department, Ronceverte Volunteer Fire Department, White Sulphur Springs Fire Department, Williamsburg Volunteer Fire Department, First Baptist Church in Rainelle, Frankford Autumnfest Corporation, Frankford Elementary School, Friends of Feral and Homeless Cats, Gateway Industries, Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council, Greenbrier Community School, Greenbrier County Emergency Ambulance, Greenbrier East Baseball, Greenbrier East Project Graduation, Greenbrier East Soccer, Greenbrier Historical Society, Greenbrier Humane Society, Greenbrier River Trail Foundation, Greenbrier Valley Aquatic Center, Greenbrier Valley Theatre, High Rocks Educational Corporation, Joyful Noise After School Program, City of Lewisburg, Lewisburg Fairlea Food Locker, Lewisburg Foundation, Lewisburg Literary Group, Lewisburg Police Department, Loni’s Legacy, Make-A-Wish Foundation, New River Community and Technical College Foundation, Rainelle Food Pantry, Reigning Warriors, Ronceverte Lions Club, Ronceverte River Festival, Shepherd’s Center of Greenbrier Valley, Wellspring of Greenbrier, WVU Extension Energy Express, WV Golf Association doing business as First Tee — WV, Western Greenbrier Little League, White Sulphur Springs EMS, Young Life Greenbrier County and the public libraries of Alderson, Greenbrier County, Rainelle, Ronceverte, Rupert and White Sulphur Springs.
Current board members are Kelly Collins, Amy Criddle, Alyson Dotson, Katie Eads, Greg Glover, Dr. Michael Meadows, Mary Page Nemcik, Daniel Ream and Tommy Vance.
Those wishing to apply for a grant may request an application by writing to the foundation at 1022 Washington St. E., Lewisburg, W.Va. 24901, by email at hollowellfoundation@gmail.com or through the foundation’s website at hollowelldawkinsfoundation.org. Completed applications must include a copy of the Internal Revenue Service tax exemption letter, a budget for at least the two most recent years and an income statement and balance sheet for the current year. Applications are accepted at any time when delivered to 1022 Washington St. E. or by mail; no electronic submissions are accepted. Grant awards are made in June each year. Applications must be received by April 1, 2027, to be considered at the June 2027 board meeting.
Awards are made in memory of Otto Hollowell, Margaret Ford Hollowell and John R. Dawkins and as a tribute to their philanthropic efforts throughout the Greenbrier Valley. The primary mission of the foundation is to promote and enhance the quality of life of citizens of the Greenbrier Valley by supporting projects that sustain and advance educational, scientific, literary, recreational and cultural endeavors.
