MORGANTOWN- Members of the GVAC Sea Dragons swim team competed in the WV Long Course State Championship Meet in Morgantown July 10-12.
This was a prelims/finals meet for the over 10 age groups, where the top 16 finishers in each preliminary event return to swim in the finals. The Sea Dragons made a big splash at the meet with many personal best times and top ten finishes.
Bianca Arnold and Natalie Bailey had personal bests in each event they swam, with Natalie placing 9th in the 100m back. Zoey Hobbs qualified for finals in the 50m breast, 200m IM and 100m free. Avery Hodges-McGuffin qualified in the 50m back, 400m IM, 400m free, 50m breast, 200m IM and 50m fly, placing 10th in the 400m free and 5th in the 400m IM. Stella Rodebaugh qualified for finals in the 100m back, 400m free, 50m fly and 200m back and placed 8th in the 200m back. Emily Hobbs qualified in all nine of her events, placing 10th in the 50m free and 100m back, 9th in the 100m fly, 7th in the 200m and 400m free, 6th in the 50m and 200m back, and 3rd in the 800m free. The top point scorer for the team was Solomon Rodebaugh, who placed in the top 5 in each of his events. This included 5th in the 100m breast, 3rd in the 50m and 100m back and 50m breast, and 2nd in the 50m and 100m free.
The Sea Dragons will enjoy some time off before the start of short course season in October.
