The General Andrew Lewis Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held their June meeting on June 18.

The hostesses were Sally Bray and Mimi deOlloqui-Turner. Those attending were Addie Goodrich, Suzanne Cronquist, Judy Deegans, Gretchen Lovett, Karen Lee McClung, Mimi deOlloqui-Turner, Jodie Nidey, Sally Bray, Carol Olsen, Doris Kasley, and Regent Deborah Phillips. Prospective member Jo Strickland was also in attendance.

The meeting opened with a Service of Remembrance honoring deceased members Brenda Rivers and Beverly Boswell.

Regent Phillips opened the meeting with Pledge of Allegiance and the DAR Ritual. The meeting was then suspended, and Vice Regent Suzanne Cronquist introduced the guest speaker Linda Zimmer of White Sulphur Springs. Ms. Zimmer is an artist, historian, and puppeteer. She brought as her guest Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, a handmade puppet. They were accompanied by Mrs. Roosevelt’s dog, Fala, which is also a handmade puppet. Ms. Zimmer read, in Fala’s voice, A Trip to Arthurdale, a book she had written in which Fala tells about a trip he and Mrs. Roosevelt took to Arthurdale, WV.

Following this delightful entertainment, refreshments were served and the business meeting closed out the meeting.
