LEWISBURG, W.Va. (WVDN) — West Virginia is the first state in the nation to launch a statewide America250 mural project celebrating the state’s heritage and communities through public art. As part of the initiative, each of West Virginia’s 55 counties was invited to create a hand-painted mural reflecting local and national pride.
Thanks to the talent and creativity of local artists Shelby Oreolt and Lynn Quillen, with the support of a grant from the West Virginia Department of Tourism, Greenbrier County is now home to a beautiful addition to this historic project.
The mural, located in the Greenbrier County Courthouse in Lewisburg, is part of the statewide WV America250 Mural Trail. The mural was coordinated on behalf of the Greenbrier County Commission by the Greenbrier Historical Society and will be unveiled in the entry foyer of the courthouse at noon Monday, June 29.
The unveiling ceremony is open to the public, and everyone is invited to attend. Until then, enjoy this sneak peek at just a few of the many details featured in this beautiful mural, which so wonderfully captures the spirit, history, and character of Greenbrier County.
