LEWISBURG, WV — Carnegie Hall is pleased to present an ArtWalk exhibition featuring the work of Thomas Ott, a multidisciplinary artist whose creative range and craftsmanship have made a lasting impact on the arts community in West Virginia and beyond. His exhibition is now on view in the Board Room Gallery through the end of June.
Carnegie Hall’s galleries invite visitors to explore original works by local and regional artists in a world‑class historic venue. The ArtWalk experience spans four distinct gallery spaces filled with creative collaborations and diverse mediums, ranging from contemporary oil portraits to heirloom‑level craft arts. Ott’s work adds a dynamic and compelling voice to this season’s lineup.
A native of Follansbee, West Virginia, Ott has built a reputation for artistic versatility and technical excellence. His contributions to the region include three large‑scale murals at Eastern Gateway Community College—vibrant, intricately detailed works that have become visual landmarks for students and visitors alike. His ability to move fluidly between mediums is central to his practice: he creates vivid acrylic paintings, designs finely crafted jewelry, and shapes glass into luminous, sculptural forms.
Ott’s dedication to his craft has earned him the distinction of Tamarack artist, a recognition reserved for makers whose work reflects the highest standards of West Virginian artistry. His pieces honor the state’s cultural heritage while embracing contemporary expression, resulting in work that feels both rooted and forward‑looking. Whether through color, texture, or form, Ott’s art reflects a continuous journey of learning, exploration, and inspiration.
