LEWISBURG- A recent West Virginia University graduate is bringing a new approach to financial services in Greenbrier County with the opening of McClure Private Wealth, LLC in Lewisburg.

Maxwelton native Evan McClure officially opened his office at 849 N. Court Street on June 1 after establishing the company in August 2025. McClure said his goal is to bridge the gap between financial advising and tax planning, two services that often go hand in hand but are traditionally handled by separate professionals.

Born and raised in Greenbrier County, McClure said his passion for finance developed both through family influence and personal interest.

“It’s really a combination of both,” McClure said. “Growing up with a father who served as the treasurer for Greenbrier County Schools for 20 years, finance and accounting were always part of the background noise of my childhood. But my personal fascination with investing started early too. I remember always wanting to be the banker while playing Monopoly. That curiosity stuck with me.”

That interest continued into his teenage years.

“By the time I got my first job at 16, I opened a Roth IRA, and I’ve been closely following the markets ever since,” he said.

McClure graduated from West Virginia University in May 2026 with degrees in accounting, finance and economics. While attending WVU, he served as an equity analyst for the university’s Student Investment Fund, helping manage more than $800,000 in assets. He also spent last summer working for PwC, one of the world’s largest accounting firms.

In addition to earning his degrees, McClure obtained the Enrolled Agent (EA) designation, which authorizes him to represent clients before the Internal Revenue Service.

McClure said his business offers portfolio management, financial planning, tax preparation and bookkeeping services. He also hopes to make investing more accessible by eliminating account minimums for investment accounts.

“Since I started investing at a young age, I want to make my services accessible to people and kids of all ages,” McClure said.

As a young entrepreneur entering the financial services industry, McClure acknowledges that establishing a reputation will be one of his biggest challenges.

“My biggest challenge will likely be getting established and building a brand at a young age,” he stated quickly.

“However, I look at my age as an advantage. While I am young, I bring high-level experience to the table. That includes managing over $800,000 for WVU’s student investment fund, working for PwC and gaining valuable insights at a regional bank.”

He believes that experience allows him to bring fresh ideas and a modern perspective to the region’s financial services landscape.

For McClure, the most rewarding aspect of the profession is helping clients feel confident about their financial future.

“The most rewarding part will be helping people gain confidence in their financial journey,” he said.

“Whether it’s navigating tax season or planning for retirement, these topics can feel incredibly overwhelming for people. My goal is to provide that sense of security and comfort, ensuring my clients feel truly set up for long-term success right here in our community.”

He said maintaining a strong reputation will be critical as the business grows.

“The biggest key is building trust through a strong reputation and delivering consistent quality,” McClure said.

“People are far more likely to try you when they hear good things about you. Growing at a pace you can support also matters because service quality and customer experience are what protect that reputation,” he added.

Looking ahead, McClure hopes the company will have an impact beyond traditional financial services.

“Over the next five years, I hope to grow McClure Private Wealth into a business that not only serves clients well but also helps educate kids on the importance of starting their investment accounts early,” he said.

“The earlier someone begins investing, the more time they have to benefit from compounding and build strong financial habits.”

McClure Private Wealth offers free consultations. More information is available through the company’s website at mcclureprivatewealth.com
