The WSS Dandelion Festival Organization held the West Virginia Dandelion Festival Art Show at the White Sulphur Springs Public Library on Friday, May 22, 2026. Thirty-six adult entries by seventeen talented artists were displayed in eight categories.

The following award winners were announced at the show:

Ceramics: First place: MJ Oref, “Earth Keeper”

Drawing: First place: Betty Jo Gum “Sound of Music”

Mixed Media: First place: Catherine Stankunas, “Golem Comes Alive ”

Second place: Karen Lee McClung, “Clipper”

Oils: First place: Shelby Oreolt, “Swan on Pond”

Second place: John Telisko, “Sun, Wind & Rain”

Third Place: Lynn Quillen, “Twin Peaks Trail”

Pastels: First place: Karen Lee McClung, “Fox”

Second place, Brenda Lewis, Peaceful

Textile: First place: Roxette Busani, “True Love” Oshi-E technique

Second Place: Joann Hartzell, “Street in Paris ” counted cross stitch technique

Third Place: Megan Kohn, “Ramp magnet ” & “Rainbow Trout magnet”

Water Color: First place: Patricia Stine “Watchful Eye”

Second place tie: MJ Oref, ”Catelin”

Second place tie: Patricia Stine, “Siberian Beauty”

Third place: MJ Oref, “They say she loves Dragon Flies”

Honorable Mention: Roxette Busani, Bay of Naples Pizza/Pasta Belle

Acrylics: First Place: Marie Lewis, “Come follow me”

Second Place : Shelby Oreolt, “Donkey””

Third Place: tie: ”Marietta Lyall, “Window Shopping at the Chester, England Meat Market”

Third Place tie: Shelby Oreolt, “Waterfall”

Honorable Mention: Lynn Qullen, “Patch of Sunshine”

Marie Lewis’s “Come Follow Me” was awarded Best of Show.

The art show accepted 39 applications from juvenile artists in grades ranging from 1st to 10th and received entries from several talented budding artists. First Place and Honorable mentions are listed below.

Caleb Hanna: 1st place in drawing with color pencil

Eleanor Alderman, honorable mention in drawing

Penelope Ricmond, honorable mention in drawing

Blakelyn Adwell: 1st place juvenile pastels

Blakelyn Adwell: 1st place mixed media (upper grades)

Ryan Goddard: 1st place mixed media (lower grades)

Jemma Palmatter, 1st place mixed media (middle grades)

Ethan Wiant: 1st place Oil Pastels

Destiny Thompson: 1st place Acrylic

People choice awards were awarded to Shelby Oreolt’s “Donkey” and Ethan Wiant’s “Van Gogh’s Flowers”

The White Sulphur Springs Public Library would like to thank all the sponsors and artists who made this very successful show possible. These sponsors include Gillespie’s Flowers, The Old White Garden Club, and The WSS Dandelion Festival Organization, Inc. They would also like to thank the very dedicated individuals who volunteered their time and energies to make the reception and exhibit a rousing success.
