Dorothy Bea Barker
Dorothy Bea Barker, 75, of Bethany, WV, formerly of Lewisburg, WV, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Wheeling, WV.
She was born March 4, 1951, in Roswell, NM, a daughter of the late Charles and Jessie (Rowell) Cox. Dorothy was a devoted and beloved member of her family and community. Her gentle and sweet nature touched the lives of those who knew her, leaving a lasting impression marked by kindness and compassion.
She worked as a sales associate at Walmart, in Lewisburg, WV, for many years, where her dedication and warm presence were appreciated by colleagues and customers alike. Beyond her work, Dorothy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a love for reading and solving puzzles, which showcased her sharp mind and creativity. Additionally, she was an avid fan of the Gameshow Network, finding delight in the challenges and camaraderie it provided.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Charles and Tom Cox.
Dorothy is survived by her four children, Lisa (JD) Carpenter, Angie Braden, Brandon Barker, and Brianna (Kevin) Surface; one sister, Sandy (Alan) VanTongeren; four cherished grandchildren, Corey Braden, Lydianne Reagan, Haylee Surface, and Easton Surface; as well as one adored great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy’s legacy of kindness and her gentle spirit will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
