LEWISBURG, W.Va. (WVDN) – Carnegie Hall and the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame proudly announce a special screening of the acclaimed documentary Young@Heart, taking place Friday, May 22, at 7 p.m. in the Hamilton Auditorium. Tickets are just $5, offering the community an accessible opportunity to experience one of the most uplifting music documentaries of the last two decades.

Young@Heart follows a spirited chorus of senior citizens from Northampton, Massachusetts, whose performances of rock and pop classics have inspired audiences worldwide. Created by Bob Cilman, the film earned widespread praise for its humor, heart, and unforgettable musical moments, including standout performances by chorus members such as Fred Knittle. The documentary premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award for Best International Feature, and went on to receive a 90% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Following the screening, audiences are invited to stay for a talkback with Bob Cilman, joined by Barbara Nissman, host of Carnegie Hall’s Classics Series, is an internationally renowned concert pianist hailed as “one of the last pianists in the grand Romantic tradition.” Known for her definitive recordings of Prokofiev, Bartók, and Ginastera, she has performed with major orchestras worldwide, including the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, and London Philharmonic.

This collaboration between Carnegie Hall and the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame celebrates the power of music to connect generations, uplift communities, and inspire creativity. The evening promises a blend of film, conversation, and artistry that reflects the heart of West Virginia’s cultural landscape.
