LEWISBURG, W.Va. (WVDN) – I’m excited to announce that The West Virginia Daily News/The Greenbrier Independent has once again collected hundreds of items for the 2026 Annual Greenbrier Humane Society Item Drive. The newspaper staff delivered the items to the Greenbrier Humane Society on Tuesday, May 12. These items were generously donated by our readers.

There is still a need for more donations to the Greenbrier Humane Society. This is a way to make a direct impact on the lives of homeless animals in our community. Your contributions help provide essential care for these animals, giving them a chance for a better future. The shelter currently has 44 dogs and 25 cats up for adoption. If you would like to donate, you can drop off your donations at the shelter, 151 Holliday Lane in Lewisburg, Tuesday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

I would like to thank all of you again this year for your generous donations.
