Lewisburg Business Secures $1.6M as State Treasurer Returns Record Unclaimed Funds

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN) – State Treasurer Larry Pack announced today his Office’s Unclaimed Property Division returned nearly $7 million worth of funds to individuals, businesses and organizations during the month of April.

“My Office continues to return unclaimed property money at the fastest pace in state history,” Treasurer Pack said. “There’s still more work to be done to get these funds back into the hands of our state citizens. With more than $530 million worth of listings in our online database, I encourage everyone to visit WVUnclaimedProperty.gov to see if we’re holding any money in your name.”

The Unclaimed Property Division returned a total of $6,991,824 paid out across 2,098 claims representing 14,635 individual properties during the month of April.

The top claims paid in April include:

  1. $1.6 million returned to a business in Lewisburg, WV
  2. $794,000 returned to an individual in Charleston, WV
  3. $145,000 returned to an individual in Westover, WV
  4. $141,000 returned to a business in Clarksburg, WV
  5. $108,000 returned to an individual in Scott Depot, WV

Since the start of Fiscal Year 2026, which began on July 1, 2025, the Treasurer’s Office has returned more than $34,226,332 to rightful owners.

The State Treasurer’s Office now has more than $531 million worth of listings in its database.
