RONCEVERTE, W.Va. (WVDN) – West Virginia First Lady Denise Morrisey will meet with leadership from Vandalia Health, representatives from Mountain Steer Meats, and representatives from Morrison Healthcare at Vandalia Health CAMC Greenbrier Valley Medical Center (GVMC) on Thursday.
The collaborative discussion and luncheon are focused on GVMC’s initiative to incorporate locally sourced beef into patient meals and cafeteria offerings, highlighting relationships that support both patient nutrition and West Virginia agriculture.
“We want to showcase this successful local sourcing effort that benefits patients, the community and the state’s agricultural economy,” said Becky Harless, Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of CAMC Greenbrier Valley Medical Center. “We’re working to align with the growing national focus on nutrition standards and food quality in health care.”
The luncheon is at 11:15 a.m., Thursday, April 30, in the Physician Dining Room at GVMC (1320 Maplewood Ave., Ronceverte).
The luncheon will feature menu items prepared using locally sourced beef from Mountain Steer Meats, giving attendees a firsthand look at the program in action.
GVMC’s purchase of beef from Mountain Steer Meats reflects a broader commitment to fresh, locally sourced and high-quality food for patients and staff.
“We want to show the First Lady this innovative, community-based approach to hospital nutrition and highlight how GVMC is supporting West Virginia farmers while enhancing the patient experience.”
