LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – The Greenbrier River Watershed Association is hosting its annual watershed celebration day at Lost World Caverns on Saturday, April 18, 12-5 p.m., with the rain barrel workshop starting at noon. You must be signed up in advance to attend the workshop and receive a free rain barrel and connector kit. Spaces are limited, so go to: https://forms.gle/58mPXG82gY8f8L7m8 and sign up.
Admission to the watershed event is a suggested $20 donation per person or $35 for families, which includes cave admission! Learn about the Watershed’s water quality project, stream erosion remediation and pick up some free native seed packets to help with erosion control.
Greenbrier Grotto will be present with their Squeeze Box activity to demonstrate what it’s like for cavers inside tight spaces. The event has lots of kids’ activities, music and a fiddler inside the cave. The beautiful T-shirts, hats, drybags and maps of the watershed will be for sale, which further support their projects.
Do you remember how dry it was last summer? The Watershed will have 13 painted rain barrels available for silent auction. These beautiful rain barrels were all painted by local schools.
Organizers said, “Please join us and support our ongoing projects to keep our beautiful Greenbrier River clean and healthy! Stay up to date on all of our activities, as well as this event, at https://www.facebook.com/greenbrier.watershed.”
