Capon Bridge, W.Va. (WVDN) — Governor Patrick Morrisey was joined by Delegate David Cannon and Senator Darren Thorne today to announce a road improvement project in Capon Bridge to address long-standing infrastructure issues and support continued growth in Hampshire County.

“Roads are vital to a growing economy because they connect our communities and make it possible for people to get to work, get to school, and spend time with their families,” said Governor Morrisey. “This project addresses a road that has been in poor condition for years and is essential to the residents and businesses who rely on it every day. We’re going to get it fixed and do it the right way.”

The Division of Highways has been directed to evaluate the most cost-effective approach to completing the work, which has been estimated to cost approximately $500,000 to complete.

The project will focus on paving a road serving a multi-tenant business facility. The road has deteriorated significantly over time, making it harder for the people and businesses here in Capon Bridge to take part in the growth we’re seeing across West Virginia.

Since October, West Virginia has seen record-breaking announced investments, totaling more than $14.3 billion and nearly 14,000 projected jobs across both the private and public sectors. State officials emphasized that infrastructure improvements like this are essential to sustaining that momentum and ensuring communities are positioned for continued growth.

“This is about getting the basics right,” Governor Morrisey said. “When you fix infrastructure like this, you’re making it easier for people to live, work, and build something right here in their own community.”
