PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WVDN) — Pickering Associates, a West Virginia-based architecture, interior design, engineering, and surveying company, has acquired TC Architects, an experienced architecture and interior design firm based in Akron, Ohio.

“We are excited about this new venture and the opportunity to offer clients across the region expanded services and greater value,” said Pickering Associates CEO Ryan Taylor. “This partnership brings together two organizations that know each other well and share a strong foundation of similar values.”

The acquisition, finalized in late March, brings together two long-established companies and strengthens regional presence while enhancing multidisciplinary services and client experience.

Pickering Associates expands its footprint in Ohio and beyond while adding TC’s interior design capabilities, which strengthen Pickering’s interior design sector, launched this year. The partnership also broadens Pickering’s ability to serve clients throughout Ohio, combining its long-standing presence in southeastern Ohio with TC’s established relationships throughout northern Ohio.

TC Architects gains access to Pickering’s in-house engineering and surveying teams, allowing projects to move from concept to construction under one roof and improve efficiency for clients. TC will now be able to deliver projects with integrated architectural and engineering services, creating a more streamlined process for clients throughout the Greater Cleveland region and beyond.

“It’s our clients’ gain, too,” said TC President Robert Chordar, who becomes the company’s Director of Multi-Family Housing. “Our visions will come to life under one roof, as a full-service firm delivering integrated architecture, interior design, and engineering. That’s a huge benefit for the organizations and companies that are part of the TC portfolio.”

Both firms will continue to operate under their existing names.

Pickering Associates is the product of three generations and has completed more than 15,000 projects. The company has four locations — Parkersburg, Charleston, and Fairmont in West Virginia and Athens, Ohio. This endeavor creates a team of nearly 100 employees.

Some highlights of Pickering’s portfolio of clients include Vandalia Health, WVU Medicine, Kanawha County Schools, Wood County Schools, Ohio University, Marshall University, Honda and Volkswagen, PM Company, City of Athens, City of Marietta, Kraton Polymers, and Eramet Metals.

TC Architects is a talented architectural and interior design firm with a 75-year history of delivering design for healthcare, multi-family housing, education, commercial, government, veterinary, and zoological projects across the region and the country. The firm also provides 3D modeling, feasibility studies, leadership in energy and environmental design (LEED), site analysis, space planning, and zoning assistance and is licensed in 13 states.

TC’s portfolio of clients include The Cleveland Clinic; The Wilds in Cumberland, Ohio; Numerous Housing Authorities throughout Ohio; The University of Akron; Northeast Ohio Medical University; The Akron Zoo; Numerous veterinary projects throughout the country; and Akron Public Schools, as well as working with the prominent multi-family housing developers across the region.

Additional updates about the partnership and TC Architects’ 75th anniversary celebration will be shared in the coming months.
