RAINELLE, W.Va. (WVDN) — Local advocacy groups and community partners are coming together this month to host “Spring Into Action,” a child abuse awareness and prevention event designed to provide resources for families while celebrating the season. The gathering is scheduled for April 18, from 2-4 p.m. at Modlin Park.
The event aims to foster a safe environment for families to learn about the vital services available in the region. Organizers emphasize the importance of community vigilance under the theme of “See Something, Say Something,” encouraging residents to play an active role in protecting children from abuse and neglect.
Attendees can expect a variety of family-friendly activities, including an egg hunt, games, and crafts. The Easter Bunny will also make an appearance for photos, and concessions will be available throughout the afternoon. While the atmosphere is celebratory, the core mission remains focused on education and prevention.
A wide array of community partners will be on-site to provide resource information and host specialized activities. Participating organizations include Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of West Virginia, the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia, Family Refuge Center, and Rainelle Medical Center. Other key supporters include the Child and Youth Advocacy Center, United Way of Greenbrier Valley, N.O.A.H., the West Virginia Family Resource Network, and Davis Stuart.
These organizations work year-round to provide advocacy, medical care, and social services to vulnerable youth. By bringing these groups together in a public park setting, the event organizers hope to lower barriers for families seeking help and to strengthen the local safety net for children.
The event is open to the public, and community members are encouraged to attend to learn more about how they can contribute to child safety efforts in West Virginia.
