LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – Carnegie Hall invites students and craft enthusiasts to explore the timeless art of leatherworking in Custom Leather Belts, an Appalachian Heritage workshop led by instructor Luke Davis on Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Held in the Carnegie Hall Leather Shop, this hands‑on class offers a welcoming introduction to leather craft and provides participants with the skills to create a durable, beautifully crafted belt that will last for years to come.
Designed for beginners, the workshop guides students through the essential techniques of leatherworking, from pattern design to cutting, tooling, and finishing. Under Davis’s instruction, participants will work with a wide selection of tools and materials provided in class, learning step‑by‑step methods that make the craft accessible to all skill levels. Each student will complete a custom leather belt of their own design, gaining both practical knowledge and the satisfaction of creating a functional, handcrafted piece.
The class is open to ages 12 and older and limited to 8 participants to ensure personalized instruction. Registration is $125 for members and $135 for nonmembers. As with all Appalachian Heritage offerings, this workshop celebrates traditional craft, hands‑on learning, and the enduring value of making something both beautiful and useful.
Carnegie Hall encourages early registration, as space is extremely limited and this class is expected to fill quickly.
If you’d like, I can also craft a shorter newsletter version, a social‑media caption, or a matching wall label for the Leather Shop.
