RUPERT W.Va. (WVDN) — Students at Rupert Elementary are turning pages at a record pace this year, thanks to a flavorful partnership with a local favorite.
Through the school’s reading program, Rupert Reads, students are working to meet literacy milestones set by their classroom teachers. Those who hit their targets are being rewarded with more than just good grades; they are earning free kid’s meals courtesy of Mi Rancho.
Owners Rueben and Amanda Lopez have partnered with the school to provide coupons as incentives, a gesture school officials say is making a significant impact on student engagement.
“Your kindness helps motivate our students and brings our community together in such a meaningful way,” the school said in a Facebook post thanking the Lopez family for their support of student literacy.
The program aims to foster a lifelong love of reading by providing tangible rewards for hard work. School leaders said they are proud of the progress students have made so far and encouraged them to keep up the momentum.
“Keep up the great work, Rupert readers,” the school said. “We’re proud of you.”
