LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – Carnegie Hall Announces Spring 2026 Wheel Throwing Clay Series for Beginners
Carnegie Hall is pleased to announce the return of its popular Wheel Throwing Clay for Beginners course, a six‑week hands‑on ceramics series led by regional artist and instructor Sean O’Connell. The class will meet on Tuesdays, April 7, 14, 21, 28, and May 5 & 19, from 6–8:30 p.m. (No class will be held on May 12.)
Designed for teens and adults ages 17 and up, this introductory course guides students through the fundamentals of wheel‑thrown ceramics. Participants will learn how to prepare clay for throwing, center clay on the potter’s wheel, and create foundational vessel forms such as cylinders, bowls, and plates. The class also explores glazing and finishing techniques, giving students a full start‑to‑finish experience in the ceramic arts.
With an emphasis on creativity, exploration, and having fun, the series offers an encouraging environment for first‑time potters as well as those looking to refresh their basic skills. Students who already feel confident with the fundamentals are encouraged to explore Carnegie Hall’s complementary Intermediate Wheel series, offered separately.
Space is extremely limited, and early registration is encouraged.
Registration is $225 for members; $250 for nonmembers. To register or for more information visit www.carnegiehallwv.org or call (304) 645-7917.
