RAINELLE, W.Va. (WVDN) — Students at Rupert Elementary School received a fresh look today thanks to a visiting team of aspiring stylists from New River Community and Technical College.

A group of 16 students from the college’s School of Barbering and Cosmetology spent the day at the elementary school, providing free haircuts and styling for 38 children.

The event is part of an ongoing partnership between the two institutions. The cosmetology students visit the campus twice a year, a tradition that school officials say has become a highlight for the student body.

“This special partnership is an annual tradition,” school officials said in a Facebook post. “It’s something our students always look forward to.”

The program allows the college students to practice their technical skills in a real-world setting while providing a valuable service to the local community. Rupert Elementary staff expressed gratitude for the “time, care, and skills” the future professionals brought to the hallways.

The biannual visits are expected to continue next semester, ensuring students stay sharp for the school year.
