Summersville, W.Va. (WVDN) – Seneca Health Services, Inc. proudly announces the celebration of its 50th anniversary, marking five decades of dedicated service to individuals and families across West Virginia.

Founded in 1976, Seneca Health Services has remained steadfast in its commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care for individuals experiencing mental health challenges, substance use disorders, and intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Over the past half-century, the organization has grown from a small local provider into a trusted regional nonprofit serving Greenbrier, Nicholas, Pocahontas, and Webster counties.

In October 2024, Seneca achieved designation as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) through the West Virginia Bureau for Medical Services—further strengthening its ability to provide comprehensive, integrated care. Today, Seneca offers a full continuum of services, including mobile crisis response, psychiatric medical services, primary care, outpatient counseling, peer support, and innovative telehealth options.

“Reaching 50 years is a tremendous milestone,” said Marcie Vaughan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Seneca Health Services. “This anniversary is not only a celebration of our history, but also a reflection of the dedication of our staff, the trust of our clients, and the unwavering support of our communities.”

Vaughan emphasized that Seneca’s longevity is rooted in its core values: being a responsible provider of quality, evidence-based practices; ensuring services are accessible regardless of county of residence, diagnosis, or ability to pay; and remaining progressive in service delivery through telehealth and emerging treatment modalities.

“By staying true to these principles, we have built a system of care that will continue to grow and serve future generations,” she added.

Throughout 2026, Seneca Health Services will host a series of commemorative events and initiatives, including staff celebrations, expanded community outreach efforts, and special recognition of the individuals, partners, and stakeholders who have contributed to the organization’s success over the past five decades.
