CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Office of Energy (WVOE) announced today it is now accepting applications for its West Virginia Resilience Planning Project (WVRPP), a federally funded initiative designed to strengthen and modernize electric grid infrastructure across the state.
“Strengthening the resilience of West Virginia’s electric grid and ensuring that residents receive reliable electric service are priorities for our state,” said Nicholas Preservati, Director of the WVOE. “This program allows us to take a strategic, statewide approach to planning for future challenges.”
Funded through the U.S. Department of Energy’s Grid Resilience State and Tribal Formula Grant program under Section 40101(d) of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the WVRPP supports planning efforts that enhance grid reliability, reduce the risk of outages, and improve resilience against extreme weather and other disruptive events.
Eligible applicants may propose projects focused on grid hardening, system planning, and other resilience-focused activities that protect critical infrastructure and improve long-term service reliability for West Virginians.
“Reliable electric service is essential for homes, businesses, and critical services,” said Brooke Jones, Program Manager for the WVRPP. “This program supports resilience efforts that help ensure West Virginians can count on their electric grid, even during challenging conditions.”
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and must be submitted via email to WVOEInfo@wv.gov, with “WVRPP Application” included in the subject line. Application guidelines and additional program details are available on the Grid Resilience program page of the WVOE website.
