CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN) – Governor Patrick Morrisey announced today that he has awarded $1,107,129.00 in National Criminal History Improvement Program (NCHIP) program funds to assist state agencies and the state judiciary in improving the functioning of the criminal justice system.

These funds are provided by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance and are administered by the Justice and Community Services Section of the West Virginia Division of Administrative Services.

Funds were awarded to the following:

West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals – $757,129.00

Funds will be used to continue to provide accurate, complete, and timely dispositions that are immediately accessible by allowing law enforcement and court recordkeeping systems to exchange information and make this information available upon criminal history background checks.

West Virginia State Police – $350,000.00

Funds will be used to continue implementing critical and necessary software modifications to the state message switch, a vital, centralized communication and data routing system.
