CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN) – Governor Patrick Morrisey today issued a New Year’s message to West Virginians, looking back at 2025 and celebrating the year ahead.

Happy New Year, West Virginia! Denise and I wish you the best on this incredible day.
2026 is going to be a phenomenal year. I think it’s really going to be one of the key years in West Virginia’s comeback.
But as we look forward with optimism on the year ahead, I also want to take a moment and thank all the amazing people who led us to a great 2025. Our coal miners, who put themselves in harm’s way every day. Our teachers, who pave the way for excellence for our young people. And, of course, our first responders and our National Guard. Boy, they’ve sustained a lot in recent months.
2026 is going to be incredible. But, let’s look back and thank all those who made West Virginia such a special place to live, work, and play now. We’ll see a lot in the upcoming year. God bless you.
