TRENT
On Monday evening, June 14, 2021, Donald Lane Trent, age 81, of Second Creek, WV, passed away at the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
He was born on October 6, 1939 at Second Creek, the son of the late Jasper and Harriett Adams Trent. Donald was a true Man of God who loved going to church and playing, singing, and witnessing for his Lord and Savior. He loved having fun and playing tricks on his siblings and friends. All the children loved him, and he loved them. Don was a graduate of Union High School and proudly served his Country in the U.S. Army.
He was a former member of Bruffey Memorial Methodist Church at Hollywood and a present member of Second Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church at Second Creek, where he pastored for several years. He was a former employee of Hercules Inc. in Covington, VA. Following his retirement, Don was also a self-made machinist. He worked on and built parts for airplanes for the Plant at Pickaway.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey Scott Trent on September 27, 1990, and Timothy Lane Trent on March 24, 2021; sisters, Audrey Holley and Carol Lee Trent; brothers, Jimmy and Carlos Trent; father- and mother-in-law, Paul and Flora Nichols; brothers-in-law, Sonny Ellis, Pete Bruce, and Clifford Holley; sisters-in-law, Jean Ellis, Katherine Reed, Hazel and Joyce Trent.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Sharon Trent of Second Creek; brothers, Sidney Trent (Drema) of Ronceverte, WV, Eddie Trent (Rhonda) of Second Creek, WV, and Lester “Buddy” Trent (Donna) of Ronceverte, WV; sisters, Sue Wickline (Sonny) of White Sulphur Springs, WV, Rose Vance (Harry) of Ronceverte, WV, Mary Williams (Delmas) of Alderson, WV, and Patty Brigeman (Fred) of Moneta, VA; grandchildren, James and Natasha Herald of Midlothian, VA and Trevor Herald (Amanda) of Thomasville, NC; great-grandchildren, Julia and Owen Herald; brother-in-law, Joe Reed of Second Creek, WV; sister-in-law, Shirley Bruce of Hampton, VA; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Donald was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV, with Pastors Phil Hunt and Harry and Rose Vance officiating. Burial will follow in New Lebanon Cemetery at Pickaway, WV, where the West Virginia Honor Guard will conduct Military Rites. The Family will receive friends Friday, June 18, 2021 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
