After a year-long pandemic-imposed hiatus, the Ronceverte River Festival returns, beginning this Friday, June 11.
This year marks the event’s 33rd year, and has been advertised under the banner “Come back to the river!”
Familiar festival events, such as live musical performances, as well as the rubber duck race, are scheduled Friday evening and all day Saturday. The event will conclude with a fireworks display at 10 p.m. on Saturday night.
“We’re glad to be back, even in a shortened form,” said River Festival Treasurer Ben Anderson. “Our committee has rebuilt this organization from the ground up and put the festival in a position where it is not only succeeding financially but is giving back to the community like never before.”
The 2021 River Festival will kick off with “The Grand Parade” at 7 p.m. Friday evening. Special guests for the parade will include West Virginia Governor Jim Justice, Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, the WVU Mountaineer, and the Dark Knight himself…Batman!
“There are also lots of new things this year,” Anderson continued. “Sensory friendly Saturday, a full circus, tons of vendors, the biggest fireworks display we’ve ever had and great music!”
