The 66th Annual Farmer’s Day Horse Show will see a new nonprofit concession stand to offer snacks and lunch while benefiting a great cause.
The 2021 event will host food by Reining Warriors.
“It is our first year serving at Farmer’s Day. Funds benefit the care of our horses and facilities as it directly benefits our veterans, first-responders, and our kids doing our Pony Tales program,” said Sonya Fullen, wellness advocate with Reining Warriors.
Pony Tales is an equine-assisted learning program providing beginning horsemanship lessons and support with reading and math skills for children.
Horses Healing Heroes provides hands-on support for servicemen and women, and first responders through a specific eight-week equine-assisted program focusing on equine care, management, groundwork and horseback riding, as well as, therapeutic healing techniques to assist the recovery process.
The beneficial partnership between horse and rider has been recognized throughout history, even being acknowledged in Winston S. Churchill’s famous quote, “There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.”
Food is also known to bring comfort and in the case of Saturday’s concessions, it will help to provide funds to bring the healing qualities of beasts to mankind. Reining Warriors will be serving barbecue, hot dogs, nachos with chili and cheese, chips, drinks, candy, cookies and fried apple pies.
Visit Reining Warrior’s Facebook page for more information on this nonprofit organization located in Pickaway.
