A Danese woman is facing 55 counts of animal cruelty after a search of her home on May 25.
According to Fayette County Sheriff Mike Fridley in a social media post, deputies responded to a home in the Danese area where five dogs were found to never have received medical treatment(s) or any shots of any kind. Deputies obtained a search warrant for the interior of the home to check the welfare of animals inside.
Inside the home, deputies found 47 additional dogs and 3 cats. The animals were living in deplorable conditions with no food or water, Fridley stated.
Sharon Ann Ward, 65, of Danese has been charged with 55 counts of animal cruelty. She is currently at Southern Regional Jail on a $10,000 surety/cash bond.
