Join the White Sulphur Springs Public Library this summer as it celebrates the Summer Reading Program, Tails and Tales. There will be in-person programs for preschool and elementary-aged children featuring crafts such as animal track imprints, and pet jellyfish. Plus the preschoolers will even go on a LION HUNT.
In addition, the library has partnered with the White Sulphur Springs National Fish Hatchery to host a StoryWalk featuring the book: Goldfish on Vacation by Sally Lloyd-Jones. This activity will be located around their nature trail and will run from June 14-July 24. “The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. StoryWalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.
Each in-person program will be limited to 10 children and their caretaker to avoid overcrowding. Register weekly for each program by calling 304-536-1171.
The preschool program (ages 2-5) will take place on Fridays, starting June 18-July 23 at 10:30 a.m.
The children’s program (ages 6-12) will take place on Wednesdays, starting June 16-July 21 at 2 p.m.
The Teen Summer Reading Challenge (ages 13-19) will begin June 16-July 24 using the Beanstack app. Read books and write brief reviews to be placed into a weekly drawing to win prizes from local businesses. Register at www.whitesulphursprings.beanstack.org.
Readers are encouraged to keep track of their books through Beanstack, which can be accessed at www.whitesulphursprings.beanstack.org. Each age group has a book goal and can receive rewards for the number of books they complete. Rewards are available while supplies last.
Readers can chart their books using this app and complete their age-appropriate reading goal. Contact the library at 304-536-1171 for help getting into Beanstack. For the preschool and child readers who do reach their goal, there will be a pizza party with fun activities like animal yoga and gift certificates from local businesses at the Brad Paisley Park in July.
