A Greenbrier County man was arrested on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 4 after allegedly raping a nie-year-old victim. William Carl Muth, 24, of White Sulphur Springs has been charged with one-count of first-degree sexual assault.
On the date in question, officers with the White Sulphur Springs Police Department were dispatched to a Crescent Avenue residence to obtain a witness statement regarding a possible sexual assault.
According to the criminal complaint, the witness advised officers that he had seen the incident occurring “along the creek bank.” The witness reportedly intervened in the assault, stopping it. The witness further advised officers that, after he had broken up the assault, the victim stated that Muth had raped them.
The complaint also states that the victim confirmed to officers that they had been raped by Muth, stating that Muth “stuck it inside.” The victim was transported to Greenbrier Valley Medical Center for evaluation, and the completion of a rape kit.
In a recorded statement provided to officers, Muth allegedly admitted to being “attracted” to the victim. Muth further reportedly stated that this was not the first incident in which he had engaged in sexual acts with the victim.
William Carl Muth is currently being held at Southern Regional Jail on a $50,000 cash-bond or surety.
