PARKERSBURG- The Greenbrier East Spartans boys and girls track teams participated in a couple meets last week. Due to several missing runners, just portions of each team traveled.
“We had two meets last week,” coach Robert McClintic II said.
“Took a portion of runners to Parkersburg for the Russ Parsons Meet since we had several runners out for spring break.
Some highlights are as follows:
Boys 4×800 of Will Godby, Isaiah Bartenslager, Jackson Carter, and Robby White ran a season best time in the 4×800.
Season best performances by Will Godby in the 800 & Long Jump, Robby White the same in the 400, Jysheim Green in the 100 & 200, Isaiah Bartenslager 100, 200, 800, Aden Dowdy in the 100, Karsen Brown in the 400 & 1600, Kalem Mahon in the 3200, Jackson Carter and Isaac Martin in the 800, Tate McMillion in the 1600, and last but not least, Brayden Brown on the 300 hurdles.

Also, the Spartans took five girls to Louisville on Saturday for the Eastern Relays:
Neena McClintic rebroke her 1600m record:
“She actually ran the full mile (which is approximately 30 feet longer than the 1600) in 5:05.9 and got 7th overall with over 50 teams represented from multiple states. That equates to 1600 of 5:04.0. She broke Bridgette Krystynak’s record last year from 1989 when she ran 5:10.73,” coach McClintic stated.
Annie Whited placed 8th in the 200 and 5th in the 400.
Avery Thompson placed 8th in 300h.
4×200 of Kiana McClung, Noelle McClintic, Avery Thompson, and Annie Whited placed 7th.
4×400 of Avery Thompson, Neena McClintic, Noelle McClintic and Annie Whited placed 3rd. They also ran season best time of 4:09.24
“The weather was extremely windy which unfortunately impacted many of our sprint races,” McClintic said.
“We were hoping to break more records but the weather in the sprints definitely affected. They still ran very well,” said the proud coach.
