WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS W.Va. (WVDN) – On March 14, the White Sulphur Springs City Council met in special session to discuss the encroachment behind 50 East. This had previously been discussed at a workshop in October. The next action taken was the council obtaining attorney Bailey from Charleston as the lawyer for this matter along with the city attorney.

The needed legal documents were not available to be gone over, so Mayor Glover made the motion to table any action being taken until the documents could be received and studied. An audience member proceeded to go back and forth with the council for several minutes regarding this situation and the legal documents. The individual felt the council wasn’t being transparent in everything that was being done and the city’s attorney responded, ”We can’t give you what we don’t have.“ The council believes it will be another two weeks before the documents are in hand so another meeting was set for then. According to the council, it will be a well-published meeting to let the public know everything that is taking place.

The next thing on the agenda was to replace older city vehicles no longer usable. Some date back to the 1990s and the council felt it was time to upgrade.

The audience member chose to comment again saying, “This is the most nontransparent group ever governing our city.”

In other business, $7000 in lawn care was approved for Dick Gunnoe Park.
