Virginia Hefner “Jenny” Cronk
Virginia Hefner “Jenny” Cronk, age 84, of 408 Winding Way, Covington, VA, died on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation Center in Low Moor, VA, surrounded by family and friends.
Jenny was born on September 18, 1940, in Neola, WV, to the late Bruce Terry Hefner and Ruth Trainer Hefner. She was a 1961 graduate of the Chesapeake and Ohio Hospital School of Nursing and a Registered Nurse for the C & O Hospital and Alleghany Regional Hospital, retiring after 35 years of service. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and Alleghany Highlands Genealogy. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. “Maw Maw” was surrounded by her loving family. She was very loved and will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, Jenny was preceded in death by her husband, James Elwood “Jim” Cronk in 2020; and a brother, Charles T. Hefner.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen Givens (Richard) of Covington and Katie Bazzrea (Bruce) of Clifton Forge; a son, James “Terry” Cronk (Debra) of Covington; a sister, Linda Taylor (Alfred) of Ronceverte, WV; a sister-in law, Lu Hefner of Neola, WV; four grandchildren, Jacob Givens (Jordan), Jessica Nicely (Daniel), Paige Walker (Casey), and Kelly Ann Bazzrea; two great-grandchildren, Hudson Walker and Vivian Walker; a number of cousins, including a special cousin, Carol Campbell of Covington; a special friend Ed Toombs of Covington; and her special snack buddy, Rigby.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend John Ballard, Reverend Bill Hartsfield, Reverend Virgil Woodie, and Reverend Wyatt Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor. Pallbearers will be Jacob Givens, Ed Toombs, Daniel Nicely, Casey Walker, Chad Hefner, Jackson Hefner, Kaine Taylor, and Justin Taylor. The family received friends on Sunday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
