LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – Nestled in Lewisburg, the Hub Café is not just a café, but a vibrant community space that offers more than just coffee and baked goods. With its full-service coffee bar, luncheon counter and bakery, the café serves as a gathering place for locals while also providing a unique opportunity for young people.
The Hub Café held its first Business After Hours event on Feb. 4. This program is meant to have people come together in a social setting while being provided a meal and mocktails. The representatives of this event hope to further their mission with more gatherings in the future. With this being the first event of its kind for The Hub Café, they hope to get more attendance in the coming years.
Open Wednesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Hub Café offers a menu full of freshly made smoothies, lattes, bagels, muffins and hand-crafted sodas. But beyond the delicious food and drinks, it’s the café’s mission that sets it apart.
One of the program’s directors, Keveney Bair, instilled the motto of the mission by saying, “We are always here to educate, empower and inspire the young people of West Virginia so we can build strong communities for the future.” They are trying to give “youth the chance to gain valuable skills, work experience and a path to future success.”
Hub Café’s core mission is to provide young people with opportunities for personal and professional growth. In partnership with High Rocks, an organization dedicated to empowering the younger generation in West Virginia, the café gives workers a chance to learn about operating in the food service industry while building life skills at young ages.
High Rocks, known for its educational programs and leadership initiatives, works with the youth to provide hands-on learning knowledge. By working at Hub Café, these participants gain work experience and become part of a larger community effort supporting local food systems and sustainability.
Hub Café is more than just a café as it strives to become a resource that empowers young people while providing the community with fresh, local and organic food options. Each purchase at the café helps support the High Rocks’ numerous programs and offers further opportunities for youth in the region.
These partnerships underscore the café’s broader mission to educate, empower and inspire youth and adult members alike. The café becomes a place where young people not only work but learn the importance of sustainability, healthy food choices and community service.
Alongside regular offerings like muffins, bagels, and specialty lattes, the café offers rotating dinner specials from Wednesday to Friday. Customers can call the Hub at 304-647-4994 before noon to reserve a dinner, which can be picked up between 5-6 p.m.
Whether it’s enjoying a handcrafted latte or picking up a homemade dinner special, customers at Hub Café are helping to create a brighter future for the youth of West Virginia. The café’s focus on the surrounding area ensures that every cup of coffee and meal serves a greater purpose, which is empowering the next generation to build a more sustainable and connected environment.
