OAK HILL, W.Va. (WVDN) – West Virginia is known for its wild and wonderful outdoors, but sometimes nature gets a little too wild. Freezing temperatures can limit outdoor activities and increase time spent inside. What do you do in the dead of winter with a case of cabin fever? Go out for dinner and a murder.

Murder and Merriment is an interactive theater company bringing its new show, “Engagement with Bourbon and Death,” to The Lost Paddle Bar and Grill at ACE Adventure Resort on Saturday, February 1. Murder mystery dinners combine entertainment, social engagement, and problem solving to create an interactive experience beyond just dinner and a show. It is like a TV crime drama performed live, with the audience playing the role of detective to solve the case.

Murder and Merriment is among the best in the business. Started in Huntington, West Virginia in 2010 by actor and director George R. Snider III, Murder and Merriment boasts a catalogue of 70+ shows performed by more than 200 talented actors across 7 states. It has grown to be the second largest murder mystery theater company east of the Mississippi, delivering hundreds of shows a year with venues booking them a year in advance.

The February 1 show will feature a robust dinner with dessert as the drama unfolds. The setting is 1928 in the midst of prohibition in Lexington, Kentucky where Castle Distillery actively works with New York bootlegger, Dutch Schultz. Charles Castle is getting married, but someone will try to spoil the engagement party and death occurs! It will be up to the audience-sleuths to uncover clues and reveal the murderer.

Show tickets are $65 and include dinner. Attendees can also take advantage of ACE’s winter rental specials and spend the weekend in a cozy cabin, complete with a campfire ring and private on-deck hot tub. For menu details, to purchase tickets, or book a cabin, visit ACE Adventure Resort’s website at https://aceraft.com/event/bourbonanddeath/. The Lost Paddle Bar and Grill is adjacent to the lake at ACE Adventure Resort, located at 1 Concho Road, Minden, WV 25879.
