CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN) – Governor Patrick Morrisey praised President Donald J. Trump’s day one executive orders to unleash American energy and expedite domestic energy production. Morrisey said these orders will grow West Virginia’s energy economy, produce good-paying jobs, and help the state achieve President Trump’s goal of becoming energy independent and energy dominant.

“As America’s energy state, our nation’s energy independence begins right here in West Virginia,” said Governor Patrick Morrisey. “To lead the way, we will partner with President Trump, unleash our full potential, and ultimately become energy dominant.”

Morrisey continued: “It takes energy to be the shining state in the mountains, and that’s why West Virginians applaud President Trump for fulfilling his promise to unleash American energy.”

Trump signed a number of executive orders yesterday, including:

  • An order to declare a national energy emergency.

  • An order to direct all federal agencies to suspend, revise, or rescind all Federal policies that restrict American energy production.

  • An order terminating the Biden administration’s harmful electric vehicle mandate.

  • An order to unleash American energy production in order to bring costs down for American families.

  • An order to withdraw from the Paris Climate Treaty.

Governor Morrisey campaigned on harnessing West Virginia’s natural resources to be a leader in energy production. In his inaugural address, Morrisey promised to work with President Trump so that the state’s coal and natural gas industries can “win like never before.”
