GREENBRIER COUNTY W.Va. (WVDN) – This time of year, The United Way of Greenbrier Valley is especially grateful for the opportunity to serve its wonderful community. Each year around the Thanksgiving holiday, nonprofits worldwide have a globally recognized day for giving back called, GivingTuesday. GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 with a simple idea: to create a day encouraging people to do good for others. Over the past 12 years, this idea has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

GivingTuesday is kicking off the holiday season by inspiring people to give back on December 3rd and throughout the year. The Greenbrier Valley community is encouraged to show their generosity in a variety of ways during GivingTuesday, whether it’s by helping a neighbor, advocating for an issue, sharing a skill, or giving to causes. “Everyone has something to give, and every act of kindness elevates the soul of our community,” declares Lauren Rainier, the United Way of Greenbrier Valley’s executive director.

The United Way of Greenbrier Valley’s GivingTuesday initiative aims to address the issues of hunger, housing, health and financial stability, within the Greenbrier Valley community. “Through GivingTuesday, we hope to raise awareness about these issues and the ways in which the community can come together to make an impact. We are excited and look forward to the support and engagement from donors and volunteers, who share our commitment to making a difference within our community. We invite the public to “give where you live” for the benefit of our 32 local partner agencies that do such important work within Greenbrier County,” adds Rainier.

As The United Way of Greenbrier Valley Celebrates GivingTuesday, they encourage their community to join the millions around the world participating in this global generosity movement, on Tuesday, Dec. 3. To pledge a donation to The United Way of Greenbrier Valley, you may do so on their website at unitedwaygreenbrier.org.
