Maxine Marie Whanger, 88, of Ronceverte, WV, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2020, at her home following a sudden illness.
Born on August 11, 1931, in Ronceverte, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Edna Morgan Ford.
Maxine was a homemaker and a former member of the Ketron United Methodist Church.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Merrel N. Whanger, who died on May 1, 2017; her sister, Detra Hudson; and brothers, Donald and Dennis Ford.
She is survived by daughters, Martha Sue Kirk (Cary) of Renick, WV, Nora Mann (companion, Terry Walkup) of Renick, and Barbara Gabbert of Ronceverte; grandchildren, Michelle Bales, Sheree Rideout, Monica Mann, Lisa Ochoa, Chad Kirk, Michael Gabbert, Tonya Langdon, and Anthony Mann; 17 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sister, Bessie Brooks of Taylors, SC; son-in-law, Cecil Gabbert of Ronceverte; and former son-in-law, Larry Mann of Ronceverte.
Per Maxine’s wishes, there will be a private family graveside service.
