CHARMCO – Greenbrier West opened the Class A Region III Section II volleyball tournament with a pair of straight set wins over Richwood and Meadow Bridge. The Lady Cavaliers were the top seed in the four-team tourney and looked every bit the part, dispatching the four seed Richwood Lumberjacks 25-7, 25-17, and 25-12. Maddie Sweet led all scorers with 21 points while Paige Dean and Megan Griffith combined for 21 digs.

While the Lady Cavaliers were taking care of business in John C. Estep Gymnasium, Meadow Bridge was making quick work of Webster County in Greenbrier West’s auxiliary gym. The Wildcats covered the Highlanders 25-13, 25-16, and 25-11.

Greenbrier West and Meadow Bridge met in the championship semis and the Lady Cavaliers were even more dominant. Preslee Treadway led West with 12 kills with Preslie Shrewsbery hot on her heels with 10. Dean led the way with 20 points. Ava Price chipped in with 7 kills and 6 digs. West blistered the Wildcats 25-6, 25-6, and 25-10.

Webster County eliminated Richwood 3-0, besting the Lady Jacks 27-25, 25-10, and 25-12.

Meadow Bridge and Webster County will face off at 6pm Tuesday at Greenbrier West. The loser is eliminated while the winner faces Greenbrier West and must defeat the Lady Cavaliers twice to win the tournament. Action begins at 6 P.M.
